Jai Ram Thakur directs to ensure smooth supply of pesticides to farmers

There was adequate stock of essential commodities such as rice, wheat flour, pulses, oils and sugar etc. in the open market as well as in fair price shops. This was informed in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here today to review the arrangements regarding essential commodities in the State in the wake of curfew due to Covid-19 outbreak.The Chief Minister directed the officers to make adequate arrangements well in time regarding transportation of pulses from States such as Madhya Pradesh and Telangana. He said that he has also requested his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khatter to allow opening of few roadside Dhabas on national highways to facilitate the truckers carrying essential commodities to the State.  He also asked the officers to effectively maintain the supply chain of essential commodities to the whole sellers and retailers in open markets besides ensuring adequate stock in State Civil Supplies godowns. He said that uninterrupted supply of LPG must also be maintained.While reviewing the availability of insecticides, pesticides and other plant protection materials, Chief Minister directed the Horticulture Department to ensure smooth supply of pesticides to the farmers. He said that all the plant protection material required by the farmers should be provided nearer to their homes to avoid overcrowding of horticulture centres. He said that about 20000 colonies of bees were being transported from neighbouring States and would be distributed to the horticulturists as per the requirements and demands.Jai Ram Thakur said that in order to provide anti hail nets to the horticulturists, 25 lakh square meters anti hail nets had been requisitioned from manufacturers of Gujarat which would be transported very soon. He assured the horticulturists and farmers of the State that there would be no shortage of nets and they would be made available to them well in time.He asked the officers of industry department to ensure proper functioning of industrial units engaged in pharmaceutical and food processing so that there was no scarcity of life saving drugs. He also asked the department to ensure that the management of industrial units provide salary to the workers without any delay. He said that efforts should be made to start production in industrial units involved in processing or manufacturing of essential commodities as this would also help in redressing the issue of exodus of workers.Jai Ram Thakur directed the officers of Jal Shakti Department to ensure proper maintenance and smooth supply of drinking water to the people.Jal Shakti and Horticulture Minister Mahender Singh, Chief Secretary Anil Kumar Khachi, Additional Chief Secretaries Manoj Kumar and R.D. Dhiman, Principal Secretary Finance Prabodh Saxena, Secretaries Dr. R.N. Batta and Amitabh Awasthi, Managing Director Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Mansi Sahay Thakur,  Director Food and Civil Supplies Abid Husain Sadiq, Engineer in Chief  Jal Shakti, R.K. Puri, Director Horticulture M.M. Sharma and other senior officers were present on the occasion.   000
