Government adopting all measures to ensure supply of essential commodities

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur told here today that the government is committed for assisting and protecting the people affected due to lockdown in view of COVID-19. The State and district control rooms are keeping an eye on the situation and monitoring the availability of essential services on regular basis.He said that even today, supply of various essential items have been received through different border districts of the State. He said that 14515 cylinders of domestic gas in 67 vehicles, 214000 liters of diesel / petrol in 22 vehicles, 19,400 liters milk in 118 vehicles, more than 955 ton grocery items and vegetables in 459 vehicles, 89 vehicles of medicines and sanitizers and more than 95 ton of fodder in 24 vehicles have been brought through six border districts of the state - Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Sirmaur, Solan and Una. He said that utmost care is being taken to ensure the supply of essential items so that common men do not face any inconvenience.He said that services of Volunteers and Voluntary organizations will be utilized as part of emergency response team for COVID-19. He said that the database of volunteers trained by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority and District Disaster Management Authority at Panchayat level for the management of disasters has been generated which is ready to be used for present health disaster arisen due to COVID-19 and the same will be available for future use also. Similarly, the services of 51 NGOs, which are part of emergency response network, will also be available on a single call.He said that services of the volunteers of SDMA/DDMA and those who have registered with NDMA specifically for COVID-19 emergency may also be utilized to assist in the door-step delivery of essential supplies to the public by the local administration, especially the vulnerable ones, if required. Besides this, services of these volunteers and volunteer organizations could be utilized for public awareness, on hygiene practices, promoting social distancing measures and assisting District Administration in quarantine, home isolation and law and order arrangements, disinfection and cleaning services, management and transportation of patients.He said that government is adopting every possible measure to ensure that migrant laborer do not panic and that food and shelter will be provided to them by the State Government and instructions have been issued to assure that no migrant or local laborer is left without food and shelter. The instructions have also been passed on to local Pradhans and Panchayat Secretaries.
