Movement of vehicles bringing essential items is being monitored : Jai Ram Thakur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur told here today that movement of vehicles bringing essential items was being monitored regularly so that common people can get them easily. He said that in the border districts of Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Sirmaur, Solan and Una essential items were supplied.He said that control rooms in the State were monitoring the movement of vehicles round the clock to ensure that there was no dearth of essential items in the state.The Chief Minister said that Deputy Commissioners have been directed to take the help of NGOs and four thousand trained volunteers of disaster management to tackle COVID-19. He said that their services could be utilized for providing essential items to the people at their doorsteps for maintaining social distancing effectively and IEC activities. He said that they should first ensure that all the NGOs and volunteers were trained about their own safety and social distancing etc. He said that NDMA has launched a website for registering volunteers to control COVID-19 and more than two hundred had registered themselves for rendering their services.He said that there was ample stock of eatables such as wheat, rice, pulses, sugar, edible oils, kerosene, salt etc in the state and directions have been given to the Food and Civil Supplies Corporation to get more stock from other states so that there was no scarcity of these items in future. He urged the people not to do panic purchasing as there was more than adequate stock of essential items in the state.Chief Minister thanked the all the section of society for their cooperation and support to prevent and control COVID-19 in the state. 

He said that only till yesterday total 152 suspected COVID-19 was investigated in the state in which 149 samples are found negative and only 3 samples were found positive.He urged the people to adhere to the health advisories issued by the government from time to time and  those who have history of foreign travel, during last 14 days should inform at 104-helpline number and remain under strict home isolation for 28 days from the date of arrival in India.Jai Ram Thakur said that supply of essential commodities is being ensured from neighbouring states. LPG, diesel, petrol, milk, vegetables and grocery, medicines and fodder were supplied today to the districts along the border of other states including Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Sirmaur, Solan and Una.The Chief Minister said that two vehicles of LPG, three of diesel and petrol, 10 of milk, seven of grocery and vegetable and four vehicles of medicines were supplied in Bilaspur district. In district Chamba, supply was ensured through three vehicles of LPG, two of diesel and petrol, six of milk, 13 of grocery and vegetable and two of medicines.Jai Ram Thakur said that 21 vehicles of LPG, 11 of diesel and petrol, 63 of milk, 233 of vegetables and grocery, one of medicines and two vehicles of fodder were supplied to district Kangra. Whereas in Sirmaur district, 32 vehicles of milk, nine of grocery and vegetables while 56 vehicles of LPG, seven of diesel and petrol, 43 of milk, 297 of grocery and vegetables and 58 of medicines were supplied to Solan district.The Chief Minister said that in Una district, essential commodities were supplied by seven vehicles of LPG, 10 of diesel and petrol, 18 of milk, 33 of grocery and vegetables, seven of medicines and six vehicles of fodder.Jai Ram Thakur said that in the districts of the state bordering other states, till 2 pm, 89 LPG vehicles, 33 of diesel and petrol, 172 of milk, 592 of grocery and vegetable, 72 of medicines and eight of fodder were supplied. All the essential commodities are available in adequate quantity in the state and there is no shortage of any item in any area. He added that timely supply of essential commodities is being done as per the demand in all regions.
