Short Term Course on Professional Development inaugurated at GNDU

“All educational institutes require whole-hearted cooperation of non-teaching employees in unison with the teaching faculty as well as with the students in all the aspects in order to run them hassle-free,” said Prof. Hardeep Singh, Dean, Students' Welfare of the University while delivering inaugural address in the opening session of the Two Day Short Term Course on Professional Development for the Non-teaching Employees at the UGC-HRDC of Guru Nanak Dev University. About 30 non-teaching employees from the different branches/departments as well as from the constituent colleges of the university are participating.Highlighting their contribution in the day-to-day administration of the University, he remarked that whatever name & fame the University has earned in various domains in the last five decades of its existence is primarily  due to the vital role played by the teaching fraternity in tandem with the non-teaching employees. Labelling them as the spine of the any educational institute, he exhorted them to rise to the occasion & to discharge their duties diligently, so that the university can scale newer heights. Such courses are intended to keep them abreast with the advancements taking place in the diverse domains at a very fast pace, he continued. Continuous, persistent learning & up gradation of knowledge is a must not only for the teaching fraternity & students, but also for one & all in the contemporary times, he insisted. Furtherance of the one’s professional career is desirable, but one should not hanker after these promotions blindly. On the contrary we should concentrate on working ethically, honestly & with dedication & devotion, he concluded.Prof. Sukhpreet Singh, Coordinator apprised the participants with the contents of the course, which, he said, has been designed to hone their administrative skills. Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig, Director of the Centre enumerated the activities of the centre & urged them to derive maximum possible advantage from the course through formal & informal interactions with the resource persons. Earlier Prof. Hardeep Singh was presented a sapling by Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig, Prof Sukhprit Singh and Dr. Mohan Kumar.
