DDC Kupwara inaugurates Fish Sale Centre

The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg inaugurated Fish Sale Centre, constructed at a cost of Rs 35.60 lakh, here today.The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Nazir Ahmad Lone, Assistant Director Fisheries, Abdul Ahad Mir, Chairman Municipal Committee Kupwara, Reyaz Ahmad Mir, field functionaries of the department, fish growers and other concerned were present at the inaugural ceremony.On the occasion, the DDC was informed that Rs.24 lakh have been incurred on the execution of building, funded by Rashtriya Kissan Vikas Yojna(RKVY) while Rs.11.60 lakh were funded by the District Administration for establishment of Fish Sale Centre.For the preservation of fresh fish, a Transportation Tank costing Rs 4.43 lakh has been imported from Denmark.  Speaking on the occasion, the DDC directed the concerned officers to maintain proper hygiene at the sale centre.The DDC said that Fisheries sector has a vast potential of income generation and urged the youth to avail benefits from various schemes formulated for development of the sector.The ADC said that the trout fish was earlier considered a part of royal cuisine but the Fisheries Department has made it possible to bring it to the dining table of a common man at affordable prices.On the occasion, various trout rearers of the district put forth their demands including establishment of similar sale outlets in other parts of the district and distribution of hybrid trout seed among fish rearers.The DDC asked the rearers to cooperate with the departmental functionaries for availing timely benefits of the schemes and assured them of fulfilling their genuine demands.
