District Admin Udhampur reviews implementation of PM-SYM Scheme

In order to sensitize the general public for effective implementation of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana (PM-SYM) and NPS Trader scheme in the district the Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ashok Kumar, today convened a meeting of officers and representatives of various organizations at Conference Hall DC Office.Deputy Director Employment and ALC Udhampur gave a detailed account of different schemes of Employment and Labour department like registration of educated unemployed youths, enrollment under PM-SYM, NPS Traders etc. He said that PM-SYM scheme is a voluntary and contribution based pension scheme for the unorganized workers mostly engaged as home based workers, street vendors, mid day meal workers, head loaders, brick kiln workers, cobbler, domestic workers, Drivers and Conductors etc whose monthly income is upto Rs-1500 per month are eligible. Under PM-SYM scheme each subscriber will receive minimum assured pension of Rs- 3000 per month after attaining the age of 60 years and in case the subscriber dies the spouse of the beneficiary shall be entitled to receive 50 percent pension as family pension. The ADDC also emphasized on awareness among public about the schemes at grass root level by holding awareness camps through public participation so that eligible could avail the benefits.Among others, GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, PO ICDS, Attar Chand, Deputy Director Employment, Subash Dogra, Chief Horticulture Officer, Brij Vallabh Gupta, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Ranjeet Singh, and other Officers/Officials of concerned department besides representatives of different unions of the district were present on the occasion.
