After 7 months, Social media Curbs Removed in J&K

Union Territory J&K Restrictions from Social media were removed by administration on wednesday after seven months ban on the eve of August 5 after centre Scrapped Article 370 and 35 A from erstwhile state.The administration on January restored Internet with speed restricted to 2G acces to whitelisted sites and curb social media applications after supreme court asked Authorities review all orders suspending Internet services forthwith.On January 31, the administration increased the number of white-listed sites to 481 on January 31,more than 1,000 websites were added to the internet whitelist, taking the total number from 481 to 1,485 on February 16.According to Fresh order issued today in this regard by the Principal Secretary Home Shaleen Kabra, the curbs have been eased only for postpaid mobile subscribers with speed restriction to 2G networks only and these services shall not made be available for pre- paid sim cards and fixed-line internet, connectivity shall continue available “with mac-binding at unlimited speeds”.the order reads.Till 17 march the order will remain in force and it was decided that Social media ban be lifted and high speed may barred till, an official told.
