Mohali to be made model city from development point of view : Balbir Singh Sidhu

Health Minister lays foundation stone of sewerage project worth Rs. 22 crore

The Health and Family Welfare Minister, Punjab, Balbir Singh Sidhu today said that Mohali would be made a model city from development point of view to ensure that the people here get to enjoy the fruits of development oriented projects being undertaken.Reiterating his commitment that funds would not be a problem in carrying out the development works, Mr. Sidhu said that Mohali is earning fame as the IT hub with the world class infrastructure coming up here. Mr. Sidhu today initiated the project near NIPER institute in Ph-10 to change the main sewerage pipeline of Mohali under the AMRUT scheme and expressed hope that the project would be a long-term solution of the issue pertaining to drainage of sewerage water. The Health Minister further said that the project would see the new modern sewerage pipeline being laid in Phase - 1, 2, 3b1, 3b2, 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and 11 whereas the earlier 40-45 year old pipeline was based on the Brick Dart System. Now, there would be no need to go into the pipeline because the cleaning can be done with the aid of hi-end machines. The project would be 9.9 Kms long and the pipeline being laid would be 24-48 inches thick. The project would entail the cost of Rs. 21.90 crore. The project would also see new sewer being laid from Baba Banda Singh Bahadur New Terminal to Sectors - 64,65,66 and 67 chowk . Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included the Senior Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Mohali Rishav Jain, Political Secretary to Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu ----Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Chairman Cooperative Bank Mohali Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, Commissioner MC Kamal Garg, Mukesh Garg, Councillor Kuljit Singh Bedi, Councillors Amrik Singh Somal, Rajinder Singh Rana, Nachhattar Singh, Narain Singh Sandhu, Bharat Bhushan Maini, Jasvir Singh Manku, Advocate Narpinder Singh Rangi, Kanwarjot Singh Raja Mohali, Baljit Kaur Mohali, Jatinder Singh Jolly, Kamalpreet Singh Bunny, Rajesh Lakhotra, Navdeep Singh Tokhi, Baljit Singh Grewal, Jaspal Singh Tiwana and Rupinder Kaur Reena.
