Amritsar Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla on Friday exhorted the farmers to adopt any livestock business along with agriculture to enhance their incomes. Addressing the gathering on the second day of the 11th National Livestock Championship and Agri Expo-2020 at Batala, he said that Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is committed to strengthening the livestock sector in the state which is more remunerative and provides a regular flow of the income and employment to the farmers. He said that the state government has waived off the debt up to 2 lakh of small and marginal farmers.Mr Aujla said that National Livestock Championship and Agri Expo-2020 is set to boost the livestock sector in Punjab and said that it will bring revolutionary changes in the state. Director Animal Husbandry Dr Inderjeet Singh said that more than 8000 livestock are participating in this championship. He said that to improve the breed of the cattle and increase milk production which would enhance the income of dairy farmers of the state, Punjab Government has reduced livestock semen rates by four times. Member of Parliament Mr Gurjeet Singh Aujla also watched competitions of horses, buffaloes, cows and others. On the occasion, Batala SDM Mr Balwinder Singh, Joint Director Dr Satbir Singh Bajwa, Deputy Director Dr Sham Singh, SP Mr Varinder Preet Singh, Dr Sarbjeet Singh, Dr HS Kahlon, Dr Gurdev Singh, Dr Kanwalpreet Singh and others were present.
