MIR Tees-Off Spring Swing Golf Tournament

Asks Not To Delink Tourism With Conflicts And Politics

Minister for Tourism Mr. Ghulam Ahmad Mir today Tee-off the Spring Swing Golf Tournament at picturesque Royal Springs Golf Course (RSGC) here today.pisional Commissioner, Kashmir Shalindar Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmed Shah Director Tourism, Talat Parvez, Secretary RSGC Mr. Ghalib other dignitaries and large number of golfers were present on the occasion.Mr. Mir while speaking on the occasion said that the event would help to promote the valley as a golf tourist hotspot and a viable alternative to the more popular destinations in Europe for domestic tourists.

He said nature has blessed our State with enchanting beauties and the besides Kashmir's iconic Dal Lake on the foothills of the Zabarwan mountains make RSGC a preferred holiday destination for golfers. He said we are planning to organize such tournaments regularly at the lawns of RSGC. The Minister said that the Valley's favourable weather conditions and the excellent turf at RSGC will prompt foreign tourist particularly golfers to play this game here and explore their proficiency in the sport which is favourable for the economy of our State.Meanwhile, Mr. Mir also participated in a Kashmir Tourist Summit, 2013 conference as chief guest the topic entitled “Role of Tourists in our State Economy” which was organized by J&K Peoples Forum.On the occasion the Minister addressed a large gathering of tour operators, students and prominent citizens and urged upon one and all to play their role for the promotion of tourism sector in the State so that economy of the people related with the tourism trade can be improved and sustained.Mr. Mir also enjoined upon the stake holders not to link tourism with politics and other conflicts.Later, pisional Commissioner, Kashmir Shalindar Kumar distributed the trophies among the winners of the tournament in presence while Inspector General of Police, Mr. Abdul Gani Mir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director Tourism, and Secretary RSGC were present on the occasion. 

The Award ceremony function was organized by Directorate of Tourism with the collaboration of Association of Kashmir Tour Operators (AKTO and J&K Federation of Tour Operators (JKFTO) at SKICC.
