HM’s Refusal To Return Guru’s Body A Slap On Institution Of Assembly: Mehbooba

Accusing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of forcing youth to adopt the violent path, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said, that Omar’s statement on PSA in assembly was just a gimmick and an attempt to mislead and befool public.“Tell me what Omar has done for Kashmir resolution during last four years. If he says on the floor of house that Kashmir is not integral part, why he shoots down the youth who say the same thing on streets.” asked Mehbooba.She ridiculed Chief Minster on the statement and said, “Omar knows that his father in Delhi would come to his rescue by saying, we are the integral part of India and are ready to spill every drop of blood of our family for India.” Mufti alleged that Chief Minster and his father were befooling people in Kashmir as well as in India.“We have stood against Home Minster on Afzal Guru Issue. Omar Abdullah could have taken a stand to save the pride of the legislature, but he did not. It was his duty to save the pride of the assembly, but unfortunately, this too had to be done by the opposition” Claimed Mehbooba, adding that National Conference compromised with the sanctity of the house and turned it into an “akhada”.“When we were in the Govt. Mufti sahib ensured that there was no innocent killed or even feel frightened while walking on the street.” Said Mehbooba, who added that no hurriyat leader or the young people were tortured or caged en mass. Mehbooba said that Home Ministers refusal to return the mortal remains of Afzal guru when PDP had moved an adjournment motion was a slap on the institution of assembly. “He should have resented Home Minster and said, let our house be not taken so far granted.” said Mehbooba.The PDP President defended her party’s decision of boycotting the assembly proceedings, saying, Chief Minster was staging drama in the house. “You can’t befool people every time by getting emotional or agitated on the floor of the house. You are making remarks against every one, against huriyat, against army, against Police against PDP and others. What kind of Chief Minster you are.” Asked Mehbooba. She said PSA was equal fatal law as that of the AFSPA, and said, it was PDP that has raised the voice of people at every platform. She ridiculed the Chief Minster’s accusation that her party was not playing an active role of opposition. She said PDP was left with no option other than to boycott the proceedings.“We stood on our feet in 2008, and withdrew support at a time when nobody had even expected us to do so. But we stood for the people, not for the own interests.”
