Agriculture Department Kupwara Organizes Mega Kissan Mela

The Agriculture Department Kupwara, today organized  a Mega Kissan Mela here at District Headquarter wherein various Agriculture experts provided awareness about scientific agricultural practices and different government run schemes for the welfare of farmers.The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg presided over as Chief Guest while, Director Agriculture, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi participated as the Guest of Honour in the function. Besides, Joint Director Agriculture, Deepak Kumar Kajru; Chief Agriculture Officer, Muzaffar Ahmad Hurrah; District & Tehsil Agriculture Officers, BDC Chairpersons, representatives of PRIs and large number of farmers participated in the Kissan Mela.On the occasion, the DDC inspected various stalls which were installed by different departments including Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries, Floriculture and Handicrafts. Showcasing their products and farm machinery provided to farmers at subsidized rates under various government schemes.The DDC in his address highlighted various Kissan welfare schemes for increasing the productivity and income of farmers.He said that under Kissan Credit Card Scheme farmers can avail loan facility upto 5 years. 

In addition, the DDC highlighted the potential of the district in the fields of mushroom cultivation, apiculture and other sectors.While addressing the farmers, Director Agriculture, Kashmir, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi said that the farmers of the district can double their income by adopting scientific agriculture practices.On the occasion, the Director dedicated a Refrigerator Van to the Agriculture department Kupwara for carrying and delivering fresh vegetables and fruits of the farmers to the market place.The Chief Agriculture Officer, Muzaffar Ahmad Hurrah while addressing the farmers said that the Agriculture department Kupwara in coordination with District Administration is committed to improvement of agriculture sector in the district.During the function, agriculture officers and field functionaries of the department delivered detailed guidelines to the farmers for improving productivity by implementing various organic and scientific practices in their fields.Meanwhile an award ceremony was also held in which several Agriculture Officers & field officials of the department and progressive farmers were awarded for best performance in their field of activity.
