DDC Ramban inaugurates Mobile Soil Testing Laboratory

District Development Commissioner, Nazim Zai Khan inaugurated a Mobile Soil Testing Laboratory of Horticulture department, here today. The lab, equipped with modern testing instruments, would test soil samples across the district in next six days. BDC Chairperson, Shamshad Begum, Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) VK Gupta, SMS, RR Sharma, HDO, Rohan Kumar, Soil Analyst, GS Kapoor, PRIs and a large number of farmers were present on the occasion. In his address, the DDC said that a team of experts and scientists shall test the soil sample in each block to identify the major and minor types of nutrients available in it and educate the farmers to adopt a particular system of farming as per adaptability and potential of soil. The well designed scientific way of testing shall enable the farmers to add exact quantity and type of nutrients to their fields, he added.The DDC also gave away Soil Health Cards to the farmers issued by the scientists of horticulture department after testing the soil.Earlier, Chief Horticulture Officer informed that the Soil Testing Lab would visit   all the areas on schedule dates. After staying at district headquarter for next two days, it would be available in Banihal block on February 26 and  27, Ramsoo on Feb 28 and Batote on Feb 29, he informed.
