Health minister lays foundation stone of Punjab’s 2nd Ayush Hospital in Moga

With an aim to promote alternative and traditional systems of medicine, Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the Moga district’s much ambitious 50-bed Ayurvedic, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) Hospital at Duneke village here. Health Minister was accompanied by MLA Moga Dr Harjot Kamal, MLA Dharamkot Sukhjit Singh Lohgarh, MLA Baghapurana Darshan Singh Brar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM Moga) Satwant Singh, Chairman District Planning Board Inderjit Singh, Chairman Improvement Trust Vinod Bansal and former minister Dr Malti Thapar.While addressing the gathering at a district level function at Sri Satya Sai Murlidhar Ayurveda College, Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that all credits to bring the Ayush Hospital here goes to the MLA Moga Harjot Kamal and the hospital worth Rs 9 crores will be functional in 15 months. As per the information, the contract to build the hospital on a five Kanal land with a cost of Rs 6.16 crores has been allocated to the contractor while Rs 3 crores will be spent on the furniture and other required equipment in the hospital.Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has also ordered the suspension of two doctors including Gynaecologist Dr Manisha Gupta and Paediatrician Dr Ashish Aggarwal in the case of a baby delivered on the floor of the maternity ward in the Moga Civil Hospital on January 09. 

The orders of suspension came after the victim family met the health minister during the function and the latter taking cognisance has ordered the suspension of the accused doctors.  According to the information, Amandeep Kaur from village Baje Ke of Dharamkot had delivered a baby boy on the floor in early hours on January 9. The baby died at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot while undergoing treatment on January 15.Health minister also reviewed the special enrolment camp being organised by the District Social Security Department to help people with disabilities to get unique disability identity card at SSMD College. Health minister also conferred degrees to students BMS and also handed over job offer letters to the employees appointed for the Ayush Hospital.MLA Harjot Kamal, while addressing the gathering expressed gratitude to the Punjab Government said that being a doctor he personally requested Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to gift this project to the Moga and the latter accepted his request. He also thanked Health Minister for giving Punjab’s second Ayush Hospital to Moga district and said that this added another feather in his cap. He said that soon the Trauma Centre will be set up on the seven-kanal land, just adjacent to the Ayush Hospital. Meanwhile, After SAS Nagar (Mohali), Moga would be the second district in Punjab to get the AYUSH Hospital under the Ayush Service component of National Ayush Mission. The Ayush Hospital will be established in a four-floor building.
