The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann has served an ultimatum on the government in the saddle, stating that if the Captain Amarinder Singh government failed to terminate the power purchase agreements (PPAs) with private thermal plants inked by the previous Badal government during the current budget session, the Aam Aadmi Party would be forced to cut power to Captain’s Moti Mahal on March 16.The decision was taken at the party’s state Core Committee meeting held in Chandigarh on Thursday. The meeting, chaired by Core Committee Chairman Principal Budh Ram and party president Bhagwant Mann, with Leader of Opposition, Harpal Singh Cheema, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Aman Arora, Sarabjit Kaur Manuke, Meet Hayer, Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Jai Krishan Singh Rauri, Manjeet Singh Bilaspur, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Master Baldev Singh (All MLAs), former MP Prof. Sadhu Singh, Dr. Balbir Singh, Gerry Birring, Sukhwinder Sukhi, Dalbir Singh Dhillon, Gurdit Singh Sekhon, Harchand Singh Barsat, Baljinder Singh Chaunda and Manjit Singh Sidhu in august presence. In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Friday, Bhagwant Mann and Principal Budh Ram said that Capt Amarinder Singh government had entered into a secret pact with private power companies, like the Badals, which was why it neither got the accounts of power companies audited nor revoked the one-sided PPAs even after being into power for more than three years now.The AAP leaders said that the ruling Congress Party in the state had promised in party manifesto that it would review, audit and terminate PPAs immediately after assuming power in the state.Bhagwant Mann on the occasion said that if Capt Amarinder Singh had a little love lost for the people of the state, he would have tighten noose on the power mafia immediately after  coming to power, saying that, instead of doing a precious little to stamp it out, he (Capt Amarinder Singh) had surpassed the Badals in extending a free run to power mafia. He said Captain Amarinder Singh had the golden opportunity to nix the anti-state PPAs in the current budget session, thus helping the people heave a sigh of relief from the recurring power shocks.Mann cautioned that if the government failed to terminate the PPAs in the ongoing budget session, the Aam Aadmi Party would be forced to cut power to Moti Mahal, CM’s ancestral home. The meeting also adopted a congratulatory resolution over the third stunning victory of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi assembly election under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the new vikas purush of the country.
