DC Budgam stresses on coordinated efforts to ensure smooth conduct of polls

District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai today convened a meeting with designated ROs, AROs and other concerned reviewed the poll preparedness for the upcoming Panchayat elections.During the meeting, DEO interacted with ROs and AROs designated for Sukhnag, Beerwah and BK Pora, Rathsun and Budgam blocks which shall go for polls in first two phases respectively.The DEO reviewed the preparedness and related arrangements for smooth conduct of poll process and urged for coordinated efforts by all concerned to ensure hassle-free and peaceful conduct of polling in all blocks.The meeting was informed that there are 157 Sarpanch and 1941 Panch seats vacant which will go to polls in six phases across the district.The DEO said during the election process voter education will be given special focus and for this purpose the administration is going to launch a sustained campaign.During the meeting, DDEO Budgam, Nuzhat Qureshi briefed the DEO about the arrangements being put in place for the peaceful conduct of Panchayat by-elections in the district.The ROs, AROs and other concerned were imparted training regarding filling of nominations, rejection of nominations, qualification of nominations and completion of polling process till the declaration of the results.
