26000 new pension cases sanctioned: Sakina

Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo today informed the House that 26000 new cases for old age, handicapped, widows pension have been sanctioned under weed out programme.Replying to a question by Yash Paul Kundal, the Minister said that due to paucity of funds other pending cases could not be cleared.The Minister said that the Backward Classes Commission has been made fully functional by appointing its Chairperson and four members.Regarding declaration of Backward Areas, the Minister said that all the representations have been sent to the concerned Deputy Commissioners for verifications and update information purposes asrequired under law.
