Prosecution department organises workshop on women's safety

The Prosecution department is organising a five days workshop on women's safety. The inaugural session of the workshop was presided over today by Chairperson Women Commission Dr. Dazy Thakur. Physical abuse, compensation to the victim, protection of witnesses, cyber crime, forensic science, women trafficking and various other matters were discussed in the workshop.While addressing the workshop Dr. Daizy Thakur said that various investigation cases related to women should be properly investigated by various investigating agencies so that the justice can be done with in stipulated time period. She said that cases like female harassment, domestic violence are increasing in the society and to curb these social awareness is necessary. Such cases can be prevented only by creating awareness among society.She said that most of the women do not know their rights, due to which they are unable to get justice. It is necessary to create awareness regarding there their rights among them, in which district, sub-district and assistant district, Attorney can play an important role.

She said that Counselling is very important to settle various cases of harassment. If a case is not resolved by counselling, then it should be sent to court. She said that efforts are being made to appoint a professional counsellor at women police stations, police stations and district level for counselling of women facing harassment and the recommendation for this has already been sent to the National Commission for Women.Dr. Dazy Thakur said that only through awareness changes could be brought in the society so that women could be protected from harassments and atrocities. She said that it is necessary to change the mindset of society towards women.Director of the Prosecution Department, N L Sen said that participants of the workshop will be provided with special information on forensic science on 12 February.District Attorney's, sub-district Attorney's and Assistant District Attorney's across the state involved in harassment and security related cases like were also present in the workshop.
