SAP 2019-20: DC Baramulla flags off environmental awareness rally

In a significant move to disseminate awareness regarding environmental pollution, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today flagged off environmental awareness rally here from Sheerwani Hall which culminated at Bus Stand Baramulla.Rally was organized under Swachhta Action Plan 2019-20 (SAP) that has been launched by the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC) wherein district Baramulla has been shortlisted and Pollution Control Board has been nominated as Nodal Agency.Students from various educational institutions among other stakeholders participated in the rally wherein they were holding placards depicting important slogans and messages pertaining environmental conservation and preservation.Earlier, a function was organized at Sheerwani Hall during which the participants took pledge to become responsible and conscious citizens. They affirmed to preserve and conserve environmental resources for our future generation besides mobilizing activities for combating pollution.Deputy Commissioner, in his speech hailed the participants for showing their determination and highlighted the need and importance of environmental conservation. He stressed for adopting Eco-friendly activities for the well-being of our mother earth. Moreover, he enlisted various endeavors on the part of district administration for maintaining and preserving environmental health.
