A one week workshop on ‘Development of Assessment tools and Evaluation Strategies (Rubrics and e-portfolios) of Internship Programme in Teacher Education’ under Centre of Pre-Service Teacher Education, School of Education under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) scheme, MHRD, is being organized at Department of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University.The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Anita Rastogi, Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Education, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi.While inaugurating the workshop, Prof. Anita Rastogi, Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Education, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, emphasized that education should not be considered as business capital rather professional capital. She further elaborated that as professional capital education should focus on developing human capital (talent and collaboration), social capital and decisional capital (informed decisions). Prof. Rastogi also stressed that teaching learning activities should determine the parameters of evaluation and not vice versa. In the content of present workshop, she also shared that teachers should take initiatives to develop quality assessment tools.Prof Amit Kauts, Project Coordinator, School of Education while welcoming the guests and participants shared that the basic goal of this workshop is to acquaint teachers with new technologies in the field of evaluation.

He further highlighted the NCTE regulations 2014 that brought a total revolutions in Teacher Education programme by increasing the time period as well as the intensity and quality of the course. The major focus has been the shift from theory to practice. Hence there was a dire need to develop a structured internship programme capsule wherein there is a need to formulized the activities, the skills, the attitudes to be shaped among the teacher interns in addition to the specific roles to played by the School Principals , Teacher Educators, Universities and Government Organizations like SCERT.He acquainted the participants with the module that has been already prepared for effective Internship Programme and the present workshop is a follow on to that workshop for developing effective assessment tools for evaluating internship programme.The Workshop is being attended by more than 20 participants from various universities and colleges of India spreading to the states of Hyderabad, Noida, Karnataka, Pune, Bareilly, Kurukshetra etc .Dr. Deepa Sikand Kauts talked on the Goleman Model of Emotional Component with special reference to its role in collaborative and social connecting skills.The need is to develop such evaluation and assessment tools which should measure these emotional, collaborative and social connecting skills.With this emphasis, she proposed a formal vote of thanks to the chief guest and speaker for gracing the occasion and at the same time setting the tone for the workshop.
