WUCMA distributes 250 Solar lighting Systems in Bandipora

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora distributed 250 solar lighting systems among residents of the villages residing around Wullar Lake provided by the Wular Conservation &  Management Authority (WUCMA), here today.The aim of distributing the Solar Lights was to reduce the carbon footprint around Wullar and to improve the living condition of the  rural habitation residing on the banks of Wullar lake.On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that in the first phase solar lighting system has been provided to 250  households. He said the efforts are on to implement all the projects in letter and spirit that are aimed at conservation of the lake. He said that the Wullar has potential to change  the socio-economic conditions of the whole district.He said the government has identified the encroachments around the lake and efforts are afoot to remove the encroachments  including structures and willow trees.He said 50 Kanals of land has been retrieved and 150 Square Kilometres of slit has been removed from the lake so far.Coordinator WUCMA,  Irfan Rasool on the occasion said that efforts are on to conserve the lake and  efforts are being made to  develop the eco- and adventure tourism in the lake besides constructing  a Boulevard around for its beautification.Coordinator CAT was also present on the occasion.
