Giving a clarion call to give a united fight to decimate Congress from the political map of the country, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, President Shiromani Akali Dal today said that he owes the success of 9 successive elections to the hardwork and determination of resurgent workers of the Party. 

Addressing the General House Meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal to give a start to membership drive to conclude with organizational setup of the Party, the Party President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that, “I have no magic wand to win these elections as being projected by media, but I could achieve these successive victories just because of untiring and united efforts of my grass root level workers, who remained in electoral battle for months leaving behind their families”. Warning against complacency after these historic victories, Mr. Badal said that we have a greater challenge to take the message of development to the grass root level besides giving us the feedback of felt needs of the masses at village level so that we could mold our policies according to that. He said that he was utilizing this time to strengthen the organizational setup, expanding the ways of Party by new membership drive besides working out a strategy to have a direct rapport with workers at the grass root level. Announcing the beginning of organizational elections of 93 years old Party, Mr. Badal said that the Shiromani Akali Dal has begun a comprehensive, most transparent and hi-tech membership drive of the party and all workers of the Party have been told to the fan out to the village to expand the base of the party. He said that its for the first time that mobile numbers, landline numbers and email addresses (if any) of the workers would be recorded in the membership form to instantly take the message to the newly recruited workers of the Party. Warning against any fake membership enrollment, Mr. Badal said that he would be personally ringing up 10% newly enrolled members to check the genuineness and worker responsible for fake membership drive would be debarred from any party post.

Giving a timeline of organizational elections of the Party, Mr. Badal said that membership drive would continue up to May 15 and it would not be extended in any case. The organizational setup of the Party would be announced in the first week of June. Stressing upon the need of unfiltered feedback, Mr. Badal said that the Party would be organizing two day workers training camp at Sri Anandpur Sahib on April 22 and April 23, Mr. Badal said that during this camp besides getting a feedback from the workers, the workers would be educated regarding the achievements, history and philosophy of the party. He said that the salient features of Punjab Government budget would also be discussed there to take the message of development to the state. He said that he would utilize this opportunity to have direct interaction with the workers and get useful suggestions from them to strengthen the Party. 

The SAD President said that he would be also holding district level camps in all districts in the month to rejuvenate the Party at the grass root level. Warning party workers against petty factionalism, Mr. Badal said that Party should endeavour for unanimous election of Panchayats and Zila Parishads and any party worker indulging in factionalism would have to face music.

Earlier, the party meeting passed resolutions thanking people of Delhi and Moga for expressing their faith in the policies of Shiromani Akali Dal, condole the demise of prominent party leaders and workers during last one year, condemning the misconduct shown by legislative members of Congress party at Punjab Vidhan Sabha and criticising Congress for not holding function at Khatkar Kalan. The resolution also thanked the party Patron and Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and party President and Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal for their tireless efforts to ensure historic victory of party in Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee election and Moga by-election.Party’s Secretary General Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, General Secretary Mr. Balwinder Singh Bhunder, General Secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, and Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema also addressed the meeting.
