DC Bandipora reviews preparedness to tackle Coronavirus

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirzatoday reviewed the preparedness of Health department to deal with novel Coronavirus (nCoV) across the district.Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tajamul Hussain,  DYSP,Ashfaq Alam and Nodal Officer, Dr Nabeel were present on the occasion.CMO Bandipora informed the meeting about the preparedness to deal with the virus. He said the sufficient arrangements have been put in place in the hospitals of the district, besides 4-bedded separate wards have been designated in District Hospitals of Sumbal and Bandipora.He said measures have been taken in terms of supplies and equipment while steps are being takenfor capacity building of Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) to deal with the cases of coronavirus, if detected. DrNabeel, Epidemiologist has been designated as the nodal officer, he said.Meeting was informed that a control room has also been established in the district and public has been asked to contact the control room on 01957-225024 and 9419010752 numbers, in case of any exigencies.Mirza appealed passengers who have a travel history to China or South East Asia since 1st January 2020 to come forward for self-reporting, call the control room or visit the nearest health facility, if symptoms such as fever, cough and respiratory distress are observed.On the occasion DC Bandipora said that the situation is being monitored on a daily basis with explicit directions to the hospital authorities to promptly attend to any patient with symptoms of fever, running nose, severe cold, sore throat, cough or experiencing flue like symptoms.Urging for adopting preventive measures, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concern to aware people about the preventive measures to be taken, through mass media.He said that awareness regarding personal hygiene, screening and detection of corona cases at the community level has been started through ASHA workers.Officers informed that adequate amount of personal protection equipment including N-95 masks and other items are stocked in the district while steps are being taken to maintain a buffer stock.
