State Pollution Control Board holds public hearing on Gypsum Mining at Dhramkund

The State Pollution Control Board today held a public hearing at Dharamkund to get the opinion and suggestions of people residing in the catchment areas of Gypsum Mining at village Sumberbogh Harog and Taluka Parilanka of district Ramban.Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dhirender Sharma presided over the function, while as, on behalf of the SPCB, Jammu, Divisional Officer, Anupam Koul focused on the issue by making the public aware about the said project.MD JK Minerals, Vikram K Gupta, Secretary JK Minerals, Mir Irfan, PRIs and various other officers besides general public attended the public hearing.The views of these villagers affected by this project were recorded on camera and will be sent to the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority for taking further decisions.Consultant JK Mineral, Anand Gupta gave a power point presentation about the said Project, its environmental management, plan and other technicalities involved in the project.During the public hearing, PRIs and locals raised diverse issues concerning the ecological balance, pollution control besides developmental issues including enhancement of wages and other compensation, establishment of educational institution for providing quality education to children of area, construction of toilet and passenger shed.Authorities of JK Minerals assured that to improve green cover in area 2000 saplings will be planted yearly in the affected village. They also assured implementation of Company’s Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Environment Responsibility (CER) plan in letter and spirit.
