Panchayati Raj Minister directs officers to achieve targets

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virender Kanwar directed the officers of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department to achieve the remaining targets fixed under various schemes of department during this financial year. He also directed them to fix the targets for next financial year. The Minister said this while presiding over the review meeting of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, here today.Panchayati Raj Minister said that special emphasis would be laid on construction of permanent structure under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and 14th Finance Commission. He also directed to prepare the list of permanent assets, the work of which has already been completed.He directed the officers to prepare a fixed work plan to complete the target of uplifting one lakh poor families living below poverty line. Other departments should also be linked with this programme, he added.During the meeting he also reviewed various developmental schemes & training programmes of the department and division & reconstitution of new gram panchayats.Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Secretary, Dr. R.N. Batta, Director and Special Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Lalit Jain and other senior officers of the department were also present in the meeting.
