Dr. Ram Lal Markanda presides over meeting of Agriculture Department

Agriculture Minister Dr. Ram Lal Markanda while presiding over the meeting of Agriculture Department here today directed the officers to visit the fields to redress the problems of the farmers. It would be a practical approach to solve the problems of farmers.He said that under Solar Irrigation Scheme, the government was providing 85 percent assistance to small and marginal farmers for installation of pumping machinery for irrigation through solar pumps. He said that the state government has made a budget provision of Rs. 30 crore for this purpose.He said that irrigation facility was being provided to the farmers through various irrigation schemes, so that the farmers could grow cash crops and improve their income. Solar Irrigation Scheme, Jal Se Krishi Ko Bal Yojna, Pravah Sinchai Yojna and Micro Irrigation Schemes are the main schemes being implemented for providing irrigation facility to the farmers.Agriculture Minister directed the officers to ensure successful implementation of these schemes, so that the farmers were able to avail maximum benefit of these schemes. He said that awareness regarding the schemes should be made and every possible assistance also be provided to the farmers.He said that to protect the crops from monkeys and other wild animals, provision of composite fencing was being made under Mukhyamantri Khet Sanrakshan Yojna and 70 percent subsidy was being provided to the farmers by state government under the scheme. The government has spent Rs. 45 crore under Mukhyamantri Khet Sanrakshan Yojna. Besides this to encourage agriculture engineering, the state government has launched Agricultural Mechanization Programme. Rs. 55 crore were being spent under this programme.Director Agriculture Rakesh Kumar Kaundal detailed about various schemes and programmes of the department.
