Visiting deputation briefed about Aggregator Scheme

Transport Commissioner, J&K, Dr. Owais Ahmed, today chaired a meeting to discuss the modalities for the introduction of Aggregator Model of  auto and taxi services in the cities   of Kashmir and Jammu divisions.Senior officers of the department,  besides representatives of Taxi and Auto Unions, attended the meeting. Transport Commissioner stressed   upon the need for introduction of Aggregators in the capital cities as is being operated in major cities of the country.He emphasized that this facility will provide comfortable and   economical service to the travelers and also give impetus to the business of taxi and auto rickshaws.Regional Transport Officer, Jammu, Dhananter Singh  emphasized that the   interests of the existing taxi / auto operators  will not be harmed, while introducing the scheme as they can become members of the Aggregator. He stressed upon the taxi and   auto operators to spread awareness about the scheme among their counterparts.The representatives presented their views and expressed willingness in exploring the   Aggregator model of providing services to public. They also expressed that this will give boom to their business and make taxi & auto service accessible to the public.It was also   decided that the interests of the operators will be kept in mind while finalizing the modalities of the scheme.Besides the aggregator scheme, other issues discussed included   100% operation through fare meters, revision of rates for prepaid and postpaid services provided by auto & taxi operators, operationalisation of prepaid stands of taxis and autos   at public places.The meeting was also attended by Assistant Transport Commissioner, S. Swarn Singh. Chanchal Singh, Inderjeet Sharma and Gurdeep Singh represented the   Taxi Union, while Shanti Saroop Gupta represented the Auto Union.
