DySP Singh, four others sent to 15 days NIA custody

‘Officer was produced before NIA court in Jammu’

Suspended DySP Davinder Singh, who was arrested along with a Hizbul Mujahideen commander Naveed Banu and two others on January 11 at Jawahar Tunnel,  was sent to 15-day NIA custody.According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Singh was produced in a special court in Jammu. “The officer was produced in the special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court along with the two militants and their two associates. Syed Irfan, brother of a Hizbul Mujahideen militant arrested along with Singh, was also produced in the court by the NIA,” the officials said.The NIA sought 15-day custody to interrogate the five, officials said. The accused were brought to the court in bullet-proof vehicles with their faces covered. The NIA, which took over the investigations into the case last weekend, brought them here on Wednesday on a transit remand from Kulgam in south Kashmir.On Wednesday, NIA had got Singh’s custody and he was taken to Jammu for interrogation. On Thursday, NIA teams carried out raids at the Indhira Nagar residence of Singh where some cash and documents were seized. (KNO)
