DDC Anantnag inaugurates awareness cum Farm Machinery distribution camp at Achabal

Agriculture Department Anantnag today organized one day awareness cum Farm Machinery Distribution Camp at Achabal which was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir.The camp was attended by progressive farmers of Agriculture Sub Division, Achabal.The DDC on the occasion said that aim of organising was to aweare farmers about latest scientific   and modern farming techniques for high yield. He asked the farmers to focus on organic farming and directed the RDD authorities to ensure construction of compost units at least in four cluster villages of the Agriculture Sub-division.Distributing agriculture machinery and instruments, the DDC hailed the efforts of agriculture department for organizing the event in spite of inclement weather.The DDC distributed three tractors, three motorized vending carts, 05 power sprayer, 10 IP Sets, 12 bush cutters, 50 tool kits, 20 knap snap sprayers, 50 mobile hand driven carts and 1000 plastic crates among 68 beneficiaries of Agriculture Sub-Division Achabal on 50 percent subsidy.

The DDC also directed the farmers to ensure soil testing of their lands for high yield and asked the department to issue soil health cards among the farmers of the area. He also stressed upon the farmers to take advantage of various welfare and developmental schemes of the agriculture department. He said the sector being the backbone of the economy, special attention is being paid to this and allied sectors. He urged the farmers to avail benefit of various schemes for setting up their income generating units in sheep, diary, fish farming, plantation of high-density plants in the district.The DDC directed the officers to conduct awareness camps on agriculture and allied sectors at block level to aware farmers about various government schemes.Earlier, the DDC along with Tehsildar Mattan inspected the proposed sites for construction of youth hostel and solar power plant. The DDC was informed that 20 kanals of land have been identified for construction of youth hostel at Mattan and 600 kanal land identified for construction of solar power plant at Kheribal.The DDC also inspected identified sites for construction of TB Hospital.
