DC Shares Festivities Of Lohri With Specially Abled Students Red Cross Deaf & Dumb And Prayaas School

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today celebrated the festival of Lohri with the specially able children of the Red Cross Deaf and Dumb School and Prayaas School at Maqsoodan.The Deputy Commissioner, who spent around an hour at the school with the children, distributed sweets to them and enquired about their progress from the school management. He also joined the students in lightening the bonfire to mark the auspicious occasion of Lohri. Mr. Sharma also congratulated the teachers and students on this solemn occasion.Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner said that Lohri was the traditional festival of the state which was celebrated in every nook and corner of Punjab. He said that keeping in view the immense significance of this festival he has decided to personally visit this school to share the joy of this festival with these students. Mr. Sharma said that he had been celebrating the important festivals with the students of these schools as it gives him immense pride and satisfaction in joining them on such occasions.The Deputy Commissioner further said that these students were very close to his heart due to which he loves sharing the joy of every festival with them. Mr. Sharma expressed hope that the New Year and festival of Lohri would bring lot of joy and happiness in the lives of these students. Mr. Sharma also assured fulsome support and cooperation to the Red Cross Society for the smooth functioning of this school, which was serving the mankind in right earnest, adding that no stone would be left unturned for empowering these specially abled students by imparting quality education to them.On the occasion, Secretary Red Cross Mr. Paramjit Singh and others were also present.
