Road Safety Week: On second day, Cops present Rose Sticks to traffic violators

To make traffic violators aware about how delicate and important their lives are, the Moga Traffic Police on Sunday, presented Rose sticks to the people violating the traffic rules to mark the second day of the ongoing Road Safety Week. The road safety week will be observed until January 17.A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP City) Moga Paramjit Singh conducted special police checking at Joginder Singh Chowk here and gifted rose sticks to the people whosoever found violating the traffic rules, to realise them that the traffic rules were not implemented to burn a hole in their pockets but for their safety. “Rather issuing challan, we have given rose sticks to the commuters found not following the traffic rules,” said DSP Paramjit Singh.Divulging more details about this week, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans said that the district administration will install the road sign boards like School Zone, Accident Prone Area, No Overtaking etc in the district to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on the roads.Deputy Commissioner said that to create awareness regarding road safety among students, different competitions including slogan writing, poster making and declamation will be organised at school levels and three winning participants will be awarded. He said that during this week Nukkad Nataks regarding road safety will be organised at different places in the district.He also said that the health department will organise health and eye check-up camps for the drivers of various Truck Unions, Bus Unions, Auto Unions and School Bus drivers to ensure that they are fit for driving.Deputy Commissioner said that on the concluding day of the Road Safety Week, on January 17, a district-level event will be organised in which speakers will give speeches and artists will perform Nukkad Nataks, giving a message of obeying road safety rules. Besides this, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) working on road safety will be honoured and winning students will be given prizes, he added.
