Five-day workshop under Faculty Development Programme on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and E-content Development concluded today here at Government PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar.The five day workshop was attended by 40 faculty members from different colleges of Jammu and was mainly aimed at  acquainting higher education faculty with modern pedagogical skills. The valedictory session was attended by Director Colleges, Yaseen Ahmed Shah; Dean Academic Affairs, Cluster University of Jammu, Dr. Bhupinder Singh and Principal Govt. PG college of Women, Gandhi Nagar, Dr. Ravender Tickoo.Resource persons from different universities delivered insightful lectures on various modules on each day of the workshop.On the inaugural day, Prof. K. Srinivas, NIEPA, New Delhi talked about different digital initiatives of GOI in Higher Education, while as on second day of the workshop, Prof. Pardeep  Misra from Meerut University gave detailed lecture on ‘Open Education Resource’ (OER) and its importance in the development of online courses.Similarly, during 3rd day of the workshop, Deepak Bishla, an IT Officer from Ambedkar University, New Delhi focused on different features of MOOCs and encouraged the participants to practice the creation of course on MOOCs. The 4th day witnessed an elaborate lecture by   Assistant Professor, Institute of Technology and Management, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad, Chanda Jain, explaining how to generate quiz, MCQs and discussion forum on MOOCs.On the last day, today, Dr. J.N. Baliya from Central University of Jammu interacted with the participants and took their feedback regarding the five day workshop.The workshop was inaugurated by Secretary Higher Education, Talat Parvez Rohella on 2nd January. The participants were later felicitated with certificates also.
