DDC Ganderbal inspects progress on Akhal Bridge, MCCH Kangan

District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan today conducted an extensive tour of Kangan during which he inspected the ongoing work on Akhal Bridge and Mother and Child Care Hospital (MCCH).During the visit, the DDC was accompanied by ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, SDM Kangan, Masrat Hashim, CMO Ganderbal, Tehsildar Kangan and other concerned officials.While visiting MCCH Kangan, being constructed by the J&K Housing Board, the officials informed the DDC about the physical status of the project besides total expenditure so far. They informed that about 90% work is completed and work in progress include finishing items, OTs, Bed lift and Gas Bank.The DDC urged the executing agency to expedite the progress of work so that the project gets completed within set time frame and is thrown open for general public.During his visit to Akhal Bridge constructed over the river Sindh at Kangan, being executed by the JKPCC, the concerned officials informed the DDC that the 82-meter long span trussed Bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs 8.96 crore and informed about the physical as well as financial expenditure so far.The DDC urged the concerned officers to start work immediately on approach roads and start dumping of necessary material so that fabrication work is started at an earliest.Earlier DDC chaired a meeting with the representatives of Kangan Market Traders, vendors and Awqaf Committee to discuss the issues of waste disposal and other issues of main market Kangan.The said meeting was also attended by ASP Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, Exen PHE, DPO, Tehsildar Kangan and other concerned.For proper disposal of solid waste from the market, the DDC sought cooperation of all stake-holders and directed the SDM to constitute a committee consisting members of Kangan Market Traders, vendors, awqaf committee, BDO and Sarpanch headed by SDM and send the proposal to DC office for further course of action.On the way, DDC also visited the winter tutorial being established at Higher Secondary School Kangan by the Directorate of the School Education Kashmir where he interacted with the students and teachers engaged there.He urged the Principal to engage highly qualified and experienced teachers for these winter tutorials so that quality and effective education is provided to the students who come from far flung areas in these harsh winter conditions and ensure proper arrangements of heating and lighting.
