Director Tribal Affairs reviews progress of developoment projects in Rajouri

Director Tribal Affairs, Salim Malik today convened a meeting to review the status of ongoing projects across the district besides the status of Gujjar and Bakkerwal (G&B) Hostels, Tribal Model Villages, Milk Village at Argi, progress on Eklavya Model School and other development projects being executed by PWD, PHE and Health Departments in presence of District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh.While reviewing the progress of work under Tribal Model Villages, the Director said the DPRs prepared are not in consonance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs Government of India. He further said that the Cluster Tribal Model Villages are being developed to provide modern basic amenities and promote Education, Health, Skill Development, Horticulture, Agriculture, Tourism in the areas with ST population so that they can compete with the rest of the populace.He also said that the department is also planning to construct hostels for boys and girls in various Tehsils to provide better residential facilities to ST students of far-flung areas.He also exhorted upon the officers to carry out short term skill development training for the unemployed youth of tribal population, so that they can earn a livelihood and live a dignified life.

Regarding pre and post Scholarship for ST students, the Chief Education Officer Rajouri informed that there are total 2100 beneficiaries under pre metric scholarship. On the issue related to the submission and uploading of Scholarship forms on the portal, it was decided in the meeting that District Tribal Officers will be the nodal officers for receiving and uploading of the pre and post metric Scholarship forms in the district.The Director Tribal Affairs also announced establishment of Milk village in the district and creation of smart classes and laboratory for the Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel. He assured the district administration that all the genuine demands like provision of geysers and Additional toilets unit will be fulfilled soon.The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Shama-Un Ahmed, Deputy Director Planning Bilal Mir, District Tribal Officer, Mohammad Naseeb, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineer PWD, Mohammad Zubair, Executive Engineer PHE Mushtaq Ahmed, Assistant Director Planning Agriculture Department, Mohd Rafi, Assistant Director Planning Health Department, Rakesh Sharma, AE Sarwar and Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Mohammad Younis.
