YUVFORIA-2019 kicked off with colourful procession to mark 35th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival

Presence of glorious faces, colourfull costumes and enthralling sound mark the inauguration of YUVFORIA-2019, a prestigious 35th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival here today in the premises of Guru Nanak Dev University. This festival is bering hosted by the University under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The day begin with procession comprises of a galaxy of as many as 1500 student-artists from 37 universities from North India wearing their traditional attires and dancing on the beat of traditional & contemporary music.Chief guest of the inaugural session, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Cabinet Minister, Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, Joint Secretary, Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi; S. Bhagwant Pal Singh Sachar, President & Spokesman, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Prof. Sarbjot Singh Behl, Dean Academic Affairs & Patron; Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Registrar, Vice Patron of the Organizing Committee. Dr. Hardeep Singh, Organising Secretary of the fest and Dean Student's Welfare and a large number of prominent personalities, judges, team coaches, student-artists and other officials were present to witness this historic moment.  Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon presented vote of thanks. Festival inaugurated by lighting candles by the chief guest and others. Prof. Behl welcomed the teams and others on behalf of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu and wished the comfortable stay of the teams, coaches and other officials at the campus. He said that with the able guidance of Vice Chancellor, all essential facilities has been provided to ensure smooth conduct of this fest.

While remembering the martyrdom week of Sahibzade, 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji and Christmas, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that youth is the future of the nation so there is dire need to utilize energy of the youth for the constructive purposes. He said that student festivals should not be limited for the cultural and arts events but instead this provides a platform to youth to come across the versatility of the culture of the nation.He said that this University named after Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who conveyed the message of universal brotherhood and advocated the dignity of women. This message needed to be propagate today so that crime against women should be stopped. He said that being from education profession, students and teachers must evaluate the performance and speaking of any religious as well as political leaders so positive direction could be sought. He said that today there is dire need of honesty, integrity and loyalty among political leaders. He also congratulated Vice Chancellor and others for celebrating 50 years and development of the University.While thanking the audience, Dr. Hardeep Singh said that the events during this festival are being held at various venues i.e. Venue I: Dasmesh Auditorium; Venue II : Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan; Venue III: Guru Nanak Bhawan;  and Venue IV: Architecture Department. He said that today Mimicry, Mime (Venue-I), Collage (Venue-IV) were organized.Tomorrow, i.e. on December 26, Skit, Folk Orchestra, One Act Play (Venue-I), Western Solo, Classical Vocal (Solo), Classical Dance (Venue-II). Elocution (Venue-III).  On the Spot Painting, on the spot phototraphy, Clay Modelling (Venue-IV) will be organized.Chief guest and other guests were also honored by Prof. Behl, Prof. Kahlon, Prof. Hardeep Singh, S. Sekhon and others. A Souvenir was also released by the chief guests and others to mark this fest.
