DDC Shopian unveils Rs 1464 Cr NABARD credit potential plan

District Development Commissioner Shopian, Choudhary Yasin, today unveiled Rs 1464 crore NABARD credit potential plan for the upcoming financial year 2020-21 at a District Level Consultative Committee meeting held here today.

District officers from concerned departments, RBI, NABARD and Banks attended the meeting.On the occasion, DDC unveiled a booklet on NABARDs Potential-linked Credit Plan (PLP) for the ensuing year.Giving details about the potential plan, DDM NABARD, Rouf Zargar briefed the meeting that NABARD has estimated a total credit potential of Rs 1464 crore under priority sector to be disbursed by the Banks and financial institutions in the district.The PLP has been prepared based on the policies of the Central and J&K Government and it would form the basis for the preparation of annual district credit plan for 2020-21 by Lead Bank. The PLP document has been prepared keeping in view the revised guidelines from Government of India and RBI.The meeting was also informed the PLP document takes into account various sectors such as crop loans, term loans under various agri-allied activities, solar energy, food/agro-processing and other activities under priority sector. The document was drafted in consultation with various developmental departments and Banks, the meeting was told.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC emphasized upon the Banks to increase the lending in agriculture, horticulture and also the allied activities to generate more employment opportunities in the district.He also stressed on creating more income-generating units under MSME.During the meeting, the DDC highlighted the need for area and activity-specific schemes for integrating income generating activities. He directed the lead district manager to utilize the NABARDs PLP document for setting up the department-wise targets under the district credit plan.
