SAS Nagar administration punctures illegal dam on SYL, hundred acres of agricultural land to be saved

Swiftly acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan, the district administration today punctured the illegal dam constructed on SYL canal with the help of poclain machine near village Sotal.Divulging further, Mr. Girish Dayalan said that treated water of Kharar city which had collected in SYL canal since many years, but nearby villagers had constructed illegal dam near village Sotal, due to which, overflowing water current was converted into Jainti Ki Rao, which destroyed agricultural land of low-lying villages Kajal Majra, Main Majri, Nandpur Kalaur and Shergarh Barha etc.He informed that a team comprising Acting SDM Kharar Major Gurjinder Singh Benipal, three duty magistrates Mr. Mandeep Singh Dhillon, Tehsildar Kharar, Mr. Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Naib Tehsildar Mohali and Mr. Mandeep Singh Sidhu Naib Tehsildar Kharar and police party led by DSP Kulbhushan has punctured the illegal dam, which would bring sigh of respite for the villagers of low-lying areas besides reducing water flow in Jainti Ki Rao.
