Matru Vandana Saptah: ICDS organises awareness program at Bandipora

Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) on Friday organised an awareness camp in connection with the Matru Vandana Saptah 2019.Additional Deputy Commissioner  Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir,  chaired the awareness camp which was attended by Block Development Chairmen, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Asha workers and Anganwari workers.Speaking on the occasion, ADC called for mass awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana  Yojana (PMMVY) so that eligible women avail the benefit of the scheme.  He asked the Panchayat representatives and field functionaries of the government to play their role in informing  public about this scheme and urged the public to approach  concerned Anganwadi workers to get registered under the scheme.He impressed upon the concerned department to achieve the set targets under ‘Matru Vandana Saptah 2019’  by reaching out to left out beneficiaries.Meetings with Gram Sabha, Urban local bodies, enrolment drive of beneficiaries , drive for resolution of issues, backlog clearance drive  and other initiatives to create awareness about the scheme would be the highlights of the weeklong programme.District Social Welfare Officer Altaf Hussain said PMMVY is a  tribute to motherhood and a step towards empowering expecting mothers by giving financial assistance during their pregnancy period.Chairman Municipal Committee Bandipora,  Khursheed Ahmad, Medical Superintendent, Syed-ur-Rehman and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
