One day awareness camp organized at Fruit Plant nursery Zakura

A day long awareness-cum-training camp was organized at fruit plant nursery Zakura by Horticulture Department in which huge number of farmers participated, who were educated about the latest horticulture techniques and practices.During the course of interaction, Director Horticulture Kashmir, Mr.Ajaz Ahmad Bhat stressed upon the farmers to avail benefits of all developmental schemes under implementation by Horticulture Department as the Sector plays an important role in the local ecomomy.He said that this sector also provides jobs to other related trades such as packaging, transporters, fertilizer, pesticides, Agriculture machinery, traders and processing of fruits.He also stressed upon the youths to come up with proposals with regard to establishment of CA Stores, Food processing projects, establishment of high density orchards and other related proposals so that assistance is provided under developmental schemes.Director Horticulture instructed Chief Horticulture officer and other field functionaries to guide the fruit growers about various scientific techniques adopted in the field of Horticulture, besides training to unemployed youth about pruning techniques.To meet the requirements of growers, Director asked the officers to ensure quality plant material is grown in public sector nurseries especially high density and grafted walnut plant material.Director Horticulture stressed for conducting field visits so that feedback, grievances and other related issues of farmers, growers are projected and are taken up with the concerned quarters for timely redressal.
