Day-4: ‘Back to Village- 2’ Srinagar witnesses huge public response

Visiting officers inaugurated developmental works, sports events

Despite bad weather on Thursday phase-II of ‘Back to Village’ programme, large number of people thronged the redressal camp for resolution of their grievances. The programme concluded in seven Panchyat halqas of the district including Nowgam A and B, Khonmoh-C, Balhama-A and B, Theed A and Dara B.The day marked with field visits and inspections of public facilities and essential service installations by designated officers to take stock of developmental scenario and feedback for improving public delivery services.During the day-long camp, public representatives demanded further augmentation of health, school, drainage, irrigation, transport, power, water supply and road infrastructure in their areas.In Theed-A, visiting officer Afaq Rasool Gadda inaugurated 1.5 km Dachigam-Rajpora Shrine road executed under 14th Finance Commission at an estimated cost of Rupees six lakh. He also visited the retaining wall constructed at a cost of Rupees 21 lakh to keep wild animals away from residential areas. The visiting officer inspected various developmental works initiated by Horticulture, Agriculture, Wildlife, RDD, PHE and R& B department besides works initiated under MNREGA, 14th FC and SBM in the area.The farming community in Theed-A expressed satisfaction over the retaining wall constructed by Wildlife Department. The demand was put forth during the phase-I of the ‘Back to Village’ programme by the locals. 

Notably, the farming community had reported crop losses caused by the intrusion of wild animals in the area.In Khonmoh-C, the visiting officers Mohammad Ansar Zargar inaugurated cleanliness drive to aware people about solid waste management and proper disposal of waste. The people of the area put forth various issues including improving public transport service from Khonmoh to Sangri and upgradation of Sangri Girls High School.In Balhama-A, the people demanded establishment of play field, Public Health Centre and installation of dewatering pumps besides improving irrigation and drinking water supply in the area.In Nowgam-A, the visiting officer Binish Wani inaugurated a plantation drive and various sport events in the area. She advised girls to actively participate in the sports besides availing benefits of women centric Government schemes.Construction of drains, water logging, electricity, drinking water, reconstruction of culverts, establishment of additional ration Ghats, replacement of old electric poles, installation of street lights, development of health and educational institutions were common demands in all the seven halqas.The visiting officers, Information Officer Beenish Wani, Private Secretary Finance Department Lateef Ahamed visited Nowgam A and B , Accounts Officer Code Section Finance Department Mohmmad Ansar Zargar visited Khonmoh-C, Accounts Officers Finance Department Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat and Javaid Ahmad Wani visited Balhama-A and B respectively. While Film Production Officer (DIPR) Afaq Rasool Gadda visited Theed A and Administrative Officer JKSSC Noor Mohammad Wani visited Dara B.
