Day 4 of Back to Village-2 : Dr Samoon launches plantation drive in Bandipora’s Nesbal village

On the fourth day of weeklong ‘Back to Village’ program Phase-II, 50 Bandipora villages remained abuzz with developmental activities as the visiting officers held interactions with locals, inspected functioning of government offices, inaugurated several developmental projects and laid foundation stone of developmental projects.Principal Secretary Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon launched special plantation drive in Nesbal village of Sumbal sub-division by planting saplings of deodar.Dr Samoon also visited several developmental projects of the Nesbal  Panchayat and interacted with the locals to get the feedback about the implementation of several welfare schemes. He also visited veterinary dispensary and launched the vaccination drive against Foot and Mouth disease. In Bandipora’s Arin Block, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza along with Assistant Commissioner Development Jahangir Ahmad Khandey provided farming tools to the farmers and dedicated paddy thresher to the community.The officers visited several Panchayats including Arin, TA Shah, Dardpora, Balhama and interacted with the locals, field staff and the local representatives.While interacting with the people at several places, DC Bandipora urged the local panchayat representaives to take up works that will improve the quality of life in villages. He said public representatives should prioritize the works in Gram Sabhas for overall development.In other parts of the district, various public utilities were inaugurated by the Rural Development Department including roads, playgrounds, Community Centres, lanes and drains.During the day long activities on the fourth day, locals interacted with the visiting officers and raised several demands regarding healthcare, education, sanitation, electricity and water supply besides other basic needs.The visiting officers also assessed the functioning of Anganwari centres and reviewed their functioning.Under the chairmanship of the visiting officers, Bio-diversity Management Committees were also formed and Sarpanch and Panchs were assigned several duties regarding the implementation of several activities under Bio-diversity project.Later, the officers along with the Panchayat members visited Schools, health institutions, AWCs, government assets, banks, water bodies and several private enterprises to review their functioning.
