‘Back to Village-2’ programme gives impetus to developmental works in Baramulla

402 works to be inaugurated during Phase II

The Government’s flagship outreach ‘Back to Village’ programme   has given impetus to developmental works in the district with people hailing the administration’s connect with the general public.The programme has evoked overwhelming response from the people with visiting officers profiling the developmental needs of the local in their assigned Panchyats.  In the first phase, 402 works were identified which were pressing demands of the people and will be inaugurated during the second phase.In order to realize overall transformation in the rural profile by focusing on agriculture and allied sectors, the district administration will distribute 500 Soil Health Cards, 300 High Quality Grape Plant, Certificates of organic village and registration for farm mechanization, Mushroom and Apiculture. By pressing the services of Forest and Social Forestry Department, the administration is planting 5500 Conifer and 1000 broad leaved Plants. Emphasis will also be laid on creating awareness in the District with special focus on the Special Market Intervention Price Scheme for procurement of Apple crop.In order to ensure 100 per cent coverage of beneficiary-oriented schemes and doubling income of rural people, distribution of sanction letter among beneficiaries for construction of low-cost houses, distribution of sanction letters for subsidize trout fish farms and distribution of 48 Agricultural Implements, and 50 seed kits shall be undertaken in current phase. 

To showcase the work of local artists in Handicrafts and Handloom sector, stalls have been erected at various places to encourage the promotion of rural talent. District administration would also focus on the youth engagement and to channelize their energy in sports, 1047 Sports Equipment will be distributed. To address the issue of unemployment, self-employment drive through successful unit holders would be organized during mega events at Uri, Tangmarg, Sopore, Pattan, Rafiabad and Baramulla.With an aim to ensure community development of weaker sections of the society, the administration will distribute 625 Gas Chullas among eligible beneficiaries, and Rs 2.50 crores among 4000 workers under JK Building and other Construction workers schemes. In this regard, ADC Baramulla Mohammad Ahsan Mir on the second day of Back to Village Phase II distributed Rs 77.42 lakh at Matipora, Pattan.To provide entertainment and awareness about the various government sponsored welfare schemes, distribution of 5000 Set Top Boxes in Border Blocks will be undertaken.The week-long activity will primarily witness Government-public interactions, inaugurations of development works, awareness programmes on welfare schemes and effects of Single-use plastic, convening of Gram Sabhas, public grievances redressal camps besides seeking public suggestions and feedback.
