The entire city bathed in literary thoughts and ideas after Hoshiarpur Literary Society hosted its first Writers' Festival on Saturday. The festival was organized at Citrus County Chhauni Kalan. The fest was inaugurated by Vice-Chairman of Punjab State Planning Board and Sonalika Tractors Limited Mr. Amrit Sagar Mittal and renowned writer and Punjab State Information Commissioner Mr. Khuswant Singh.Well-known, acclaimed writers, poets, panellists and prominent from film industry discussed on various important subjects. The seven sessions were held in the fest and senior journalist Ms. Nirupama Dutt discussed in the book 'Punjab Through The Eyes of a Poet' written by famous poet Mr Surjeet Patar. Dutt also moderated the session on the book 'But You don't look like A Muslim' by Rakhshanda Jalil.Upamanyu Chatterjee' book 'Stories around the assassination of Indra Gandhi' was also broadly discussed and the session was moderated by Mr Ravi Singh, co-founder of Speaking Tiger.The next session was held on the book titled 'Love in the time of Affluenza' by Shunali Khullar Shroff and discussion was carried out by Preeti Gill and Sanna K Gupta.Later, Bollywood Actor Ranveer Shorey, Raj Nayak, the former COO of Viacom 18 and Jyoti Kamal discussed future of Punjabi Cinema in the digital world. Punjabi Film Director Anuraag Singh, Actor Gurpreet Ghuggi, former Miss India and actress Navneet Dhillon and writer Jatinder Mauhr also participated in the discussion.Later, President of Hoshiarpur Literary Society and Author Sanna K Gupta's book ' Hands that disobeyed' was also launched and discussion on the book was moderated by renowned writer and Punjab State Information Commissioner Mr Khuswant Singh and Shunali Khullar Shroff.
