Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Attal Dulloo today held a meeting here to review the functioning of Jan Aushadi and Amrit Stores in Jammu and Kashmir.The meeting was attended by Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Renu Sharma, Mission Director NHM, Bhupinder Kumar, Director New Medical College, Dr Yashpal Sharma, AD Schemes DHS Jammu, Dr Sunil Sharma, State Drug Controller, Lokita Khajuria and other concerned.Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Sameer Mattoo participated in the meeting through video conferencing.Speaking on the occasion, the Financial Commissioner appreciated the efforts of DHSJ and said that they have a commendable job in opening up of the JA and Amrit stores in the division and directed the officers of Jammu and Kashmir to gear up their efforts so that all the JA and Amrit stores are made functional soon.It was given out that Civil works on two Amrit stores at Super Specialty Hospital Jammu and Government Dental Hospital Jammu have been completed and remaining works on the rest of the five stores will be completed by November 25, 2019.In Kashmir, two Amrit stores at Super Specialty Hospital and Bone & Joint Hospital are complete and are ready commissioning and the works on rest of Amrit stores in Kashmir at different locations are at various stages of completion.It was informed in the meeting that out of 55 JA stores in J&K, 18 will be operated by government and 37 on private basis.In Kashmir, seven Jan Aushaudi stores are functional while seven will be made functional next week and two will be made operational after signing memorandum of understanding.About the Jan Aushaudi stores in Jammu, it was informed that 15 stores are fully functional and rest will be made functional soon.Financial Commissioner said that second phase of opening of Amrit and Jan Aushaudi stores in Jammu and Kashmir will be undertaken and said that 20 stores will be opened in the second phase at viable locations.He directed the officers to point out some locations where there is scope for opening up more such stores.He said that Community Health Centres and Public Health Centres can be the possible locations for opening up the stores in the second phase. He said that these stores will be beneficial for people, pharmacists and government. He said that pharmacists will get employment opportunities and patients will have availability of medicines at affordable prices.
