Traders highlight sufferings, losses of businessmen

Former Union Minister and Concerned Citizen’s Group (CCG) senior member, Yashwant Sinha on Friday held person to person meeting with Kashmir Chamber of Industry and Commerce (KCC&), a trade body in Kashmir. The meeting was held in the afternoon in Srinagar.Yashwant Sinha, who along with the other members of CCG visited Kashmir on November 22 to observe the situation here in the aftermath of repealing of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status (Article 370) and bifurcation of erstwhile State into two Union Territories on August 5.Sinha and his team is on four-day visit to Kashmir. According to the wire service –Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sinha was earlier disallowed to visit Kashmir by the government citing security reasons.After the gap of over three months since abrogation of Article 370, Sinha led team was allowed to visit Kashmir. On the first day of his visit to Kashmir, Sinha desired to meet the KCC&I to know the facts about the suffering of traders here. It was first such meeting after the state Jammu and Kashmir was transited to Union Territory on October 31.As per KNO, during the meeting today, all the important issues related to trade and business were discussed. The members of Kashmir Chamber of Industry and Commerce put forth their mandate in front of Sinha led group.“In the person to person meeting, we put forwarded the difficulties that Kashmir Chamber of Industry and Commerce and other traders faced since August 5”, said a member of KCCI, who was part of a meeting. He added,“We wanted to make them aware about our sufferings and losses inflicted to the business in last three months”. Another member said, “We suffered a huge loss of over 12000 Crore and we made the delegation aware of it”. (KNO)
