Dedicated to 550 years of birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev ji, the Punjab State Primary School Games Under-11 started on a high note today at War Heroes Stadium, Sangrur. These Punjab State Primary School Games inaugurated by Education and Public Works Minister, Punjab Vijay Inder Singla and march past done by different teams from various districts. About 4500 players are participating in state games. Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Tripathi and SDM Sangrur Babandeep Singh Walia were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the education department is committed for holistic development of students of government schools. Students should participate in sports along with studies for overall development. Government has said to send proposal to school managements for more playgrounds in government schools. He said that the War Heroes stadium would be number one stadium in Punjab.

On the occasion DPI (Elementary Education) Inderjit Singh assured to Education Minister that they will leave no stone unturned to make this event successful. Harinder Singh Grewal, incharge of the State Observer team, congratulated the District Education Officer (Elementary Education) Sangrur Paramjit Kaur Sidhu and the entire team for the grand event.While talking to media persons Cabinet Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the sole aim of the Punjab Government is to ensure the every learning facility in government schools including adequate number of teachers and efforts are being made to fulfill the purpose. Speaking on the occasion, District Education Officer Paramjit Kaur said that competitions of 15 types of games are being held during three-day event. On the occasion, Rupinder Singh (State Organizer Sports), Sunil Kumar (Deputy Director Sports Punjab), Yograj Singh (District Sports Officer Sangrur), Subhash Chandra District Education Officer were also present.
