DC Jammu reviews functioning of District Red Cross Society

Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sushma Chouhan today chaired a meeting of the District Executive Body of Red Cross Society to review the functioning of the organization. The DC, who is the Executive Chairperson of Indian Red Cross Society District Branch Jammu, discussed several issues pertaining to its working.Laying emphasis on reaching out to special children, the DC asked the society to initiate the birthday celebration of the inmates of mentally challenged Home, Channi Rama. The DC also asked to take steps for the improvement of the Home particularly infrastructure, sanitation and cleanliness.The Chairperson gave the approval for the formation of Youth Red Cross which was mooted by the members. She also assured to convene monthly meetings of the Executive Body. The Chairperson stressed on the need to further intensify membership drive of the society to encourage maximum number of people to contribute towards the noble cause of serving the humanity. She also asked that there should be regular activity like distribution of blankets, clothes etc through Executive members. She also issued advisory to health Department to make involvement of Red Cross in every outreach activities.The chairperson appreciated the working of Child-line run by the Red Cross. She also asked to appoint ambassadors in each and every government school who will identify the poor and needy children so that organization can provide help to them by offering school uniforms, shoes, pencils and Tiffin boxes. She also issued instructions to Secretary Red Cross Society to launch a website of District Red Cross Society Jammu so that online donations can be promoted and also asked him that Red Cross Ambulance should be on road within a week’s time. The meeting was attended by District Executive Secretary, Ajay Salaan, Dy. SP Hqs), Dy CMO, DEPO, members, Yougal Mahajan, Dinesh Gupta, Vijay Mangotra, Ashok Khajuria, O.P. Gupta, Mahesh Gupta, Rajinder Singh and Shushank Rawal.
