Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon reviews installation of road safety equipment, RADMS

Principal Secretary Transport Department, Dr. Asgar Samoon today reviewed the implementation of Road Accident Data Management System (RADMS) and installation of equipment under Road Safety Fund (RSF) here at a meeting.The meeting discussed the status of installation of RADMS at Transport Commissioners office,   road safety equipment including traffic lights in twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu.The Principal Secretary stressed on increasing the basic road safety infrastructure for streamlining the public transport across J&K. He directed for early construction of grade separators at crucial junctions to ease the movement of traffic during rush hours.The meeting was informed that around 74 traffic lights—64 in Jammu and 10 in Srinagar city—have been installed at crucial traffic junctions across the twin cities.The Principal Secretary impressed upon the officials for fast tracking the work on all lingering traffic management system projects across J&K.

He also reviewed the progress on establishment of RADMS and directed the concerned officials to complete the project in a time bound manner. He said the project will prove a great milestone in upgrading the traffic system in J&K.Dr. Samoon also took a detailed review of the project regarding electric buses and directed the concerned officials that extra charging stations for electric buses be established so as to cater to the needs of general public.He further directed the officials of SRTC that the new buses in Chenab Valley should be deployed before the onset of harsh weather conditions.The meeting was attended by Managing Director SRTC Ovais Ahmed, Special Secretary Transport, Rahul Sharma, Additional Commissioner Jammu, Rakesh Kumar Srangal, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Pankaj Magotra, RTO Jammu, Dhananter Singh and other concerned officials while as Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain Mir, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, RTO Kashmir IkramullahTak and other concerned officials participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
