Shopkeepers say losses to tune of Rs 5 Crore, another shop damaged in fire at Habba Kadal

At least 25 shops were damaged in a mysterious blaze at Batamaloo in Srinagar while as another shop got damaged in the fire incident at Habba Kadal area on Tuesday.Witnesses told wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that fire broke out late on Monday evening at Batamaloo market and within no time turned 25 shops into ashes. “Among the shops were provisional, readymade garment, hosiery, and general store shops etc,” a shopkeeper told KNO. He said they came to know about the fire late on Tuesday evening and tried hard to contact the fire services personnel who came late.Ghulam Muhammad, a shop keeper said that mysterious blaze has caused the damage to them to the tune of Rs 4 to Rs 5 Crore. “We are not sure about the cause of fire. There are very less chances of fire being caused due to the short circuit as we ensure that all power trips are down before closing our shops,” he said.In yet another incident at Habba Kadal, a mysterious fire incident left Arsh Never Ends shop that belonged to one Mushtaq Ahnmed son of Master Ghulam Ahmmed, completely damaged. “My son who was preparing for his exams saw fire as he was awake because of his examination preparations.  There is a damage to the tune of Rs 10 to Rs 15 lakh,” Ahmed told KNO. He said that fire and emergency came a bit later to douse the flames. Meanwhile, police have registered two separate cases and investigations have been started.(KNO)
