The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday alleged highhandedness by a senior police cop, who is posted in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, appealing the Governor led administration to take action against the ‘erring cop’.Addressing a presser today, BJP spokesperson, Altaf Thakur said that Superintendent of Police Handwara has misbehaved with one of the party leader, Mudasir Wani, who is north Kashmir’s Organization Secretary.According to the wire service –Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Thakur said that Mudasir was on way to Handwara on October 28 (Monday) where he was stopped by the cops and the key of his vehicle was snatched by them. “Wani later tried to protest against the misbehavior of the cops following which, he was taken to SP’s office where he was misbehaved further,” Thakur said.He added that the SP and other cops have called the BJP leader as ‘RSS goon’ and has been told that only few days are left for them. “It is not for the first time that such misbehavior by the senior cop is taking place as he has earlier disallowed the traders to resume their businesses again and have also detained many youth who were not involved in any offense,” he said as per KNO.The BJP spokesman meanwhile appealed the Jammu and Kashmir’s Governor and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to take action against the cop and transfer him at an earliest.Thakur, who was accompanied by Mudasir Wani, Arif Laway and party’s media in-charge Manzor Bhat, threatened to protest in case their demands are not met within 24 hours, adding that the government must initiate an inquiry against the SP to verify whose directions, he is following.BJP spokesperson further stated that recently threatening posters came up by Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, a militant outfit in Budgam and other places, and now the police too was acting ‘ruthless’ against them. “We are being threatened from both the side and in these circumstances, where should we go,” he said.
